The word 'Chia' means strength in the Mayan language and organic Chia seeds are one of the most nutritionally rich plant foods, high in protein, dietary fibre and Omega-3. 

Often used in smoothies, juices, soups, stews, pudding and in baking and desserts, as well as as a thickener in jams, sauces and dressings, this nutrient rich seed is best soaked for 15-20 minutes to allow for easier digestion and to allow them to soften to a gel-like texture. 

While some people eat them dry for a crunchy texture, this is best avoided as consuming them without moisture can lead to choking hazards and digestive discomfort.
