Poppy seeds are used whole or ground, as an ingredient in many foods. They are sometimes also pressed to yield poppyseed oil.
Traditionally poppy seeds are regarded as beneficial for promoting digestion and acting as a natural blood purifier. The Oleic acid and Omega-6 fatty acids they contain also makes them beneficial for the heart. Poppy seeds are also good sources of protein and dietary fiber, as well as some essential vitamins and minerals, including calcium and magnesium.
